The Patient:
"The most important tool for treatment"
Before one develops any disease, the body
undergoes many changes and the individual begins feeling
uneasiness in the body. It is not uncommon to hear, "I
don't know why, but I am not feeling well". At this very point,
the "development" of the disease can be curbed through the
use of Homeopathy, without waiting for the disease to develop
completely. There is no need for the diagnostic tests on end
products of disease such as pus, tumors and ulcers in order
to administer Homeopathic treatment.
After all the tests, let us say, an
ulcer is diagnosed. Some individuals with ulcer, enjoy hot drinks
and others cold liquids. Some may have sinusitis along
with the ulcer, whereas others may have Asthma. In this case,
the body is clearly demonstrating its individuality and its unique
nature. How can the same medicine treats all persons
suffering from an Ulcer if each person's body is of different
nature and manifests different symptoms? (The disease diagnosis
is identical but the signs and symptoms are different.)
Dr. Peter Duesberg, ph.D., world renowned
virologist, published a paper in Biotechnology (1993) in which
he listed all the HIV-free AIDS cases that he could find in
the literature. He came up with 4,621 persons suffering from
AIDS who didn't have any trace of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency
Virus) in their blood. Officially, the person who tests HIV
positive will be diagnosed as having AIDS, and the person who
tests negative will be given the diagnosis of ICL (Idiopathic
CD4 lymphocytopenia) a new term coined after these findings.
Both patients will demonstrate the same identical symptoms,
same disease, same mortality rate, and in the same risk groups,
yet one will be treated with expensive and deadly antiviral
drugs, while the other will not be. (The
disease diagnosis is different but the signs and symptoms
are same.)
Homeopathy considers signs and symptoms,
not the disease diagnosis, most important for the treatment. It
is an established and accepted fact that impaired mental function
results from nutritional deficiency. Altered brain chemistry
can result in mental/emotional disturbances and behavioral
disorders such as hyperactivity, Attention Deficit Disorder,
anxiety, depression, eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia),
drug and alcohol addiction, autism and violence. This clearly
indicates that the body and the mind are interconnected.
In spite of having good nutritional
food, supplements and vitamins, some people suffer from nutritional
deficiency because their bodies fail to absorb the nutrients
and the vitamins ingested. Ideally, we should make the body
utilize the available nutrients in food instead of taking large
amounts of supplements.
The following items are taken into consideration
in Homeopathy as chronic conditions with the aim to selecting
the single remedy for the person to bring physical and
mental health.
-
Mental condition (anxiety, irritability, impatient, greed
etc...)
-
Behavior (quarrelsome, complaining etc...)
-
Emotions (anger, tearful etc...)
-
Physical symptoms
-
Sensations (pain, burning sensation, sensations of tight
bandage around the abdomen etc...)
-
Modalities (aggravation of joint pains by walking, better
by applying pressure etc...)
-
Likes and dislikes (of food etc...)
-
Sleep (dreams, disturbances while sleeping, refreshing etc...)
-
Menstrual cycle (frequency, duration, associate complaints
etc...)
-
Previous history (of illness as it shows the nature )
-
Family history (for hereditary)
-
Pathology (boils, warts, cysts, piles etc...)
To treat the patients suffering from acute
conditions (fever, cough, cold, headache etc...), homeopaths
consider only the signs and symptoms.
